Hazard Identification
Under fire condition, or under high heat, it may depose to form flammable and/or explosive mixture in the air.
It reacts with oxidant, especially at high temperature, polymerization may occur, generating a lot of heat. This may break the container and cause explosion.
Decomposition products: carbon monoxide; carbon dioxide
Stability Condition to Avoid: NK
Hazardous Polymerization Indicator: YES
Materials to Avoid: strong oxidant, acid, alkali.
Extinguishing Media: foam, carbon dioxide, dry, sand, powder, sand. Do not work with water.
Section 5 Handling and Storage
Precautions: Store in a cool dry place. Away from fire & heat source. Warehouse temperature: no more than 30 0c. Seal airtight. Avoid direct sunlight. Avoidance of contact with air and humidity. Separate from oxidizing material, acid and alkali. Don’t store long in large quantity. Adequate warehouse lighting and ventilation to avoid explosion. Set switches outside the warehouse. Appropriate Firefighters. Avoid using tools that may generate flash. Prevention of fire and explosion in packaging and storage. When packing, control the flow within 3m/s. Use grounding device to avoid static. Careful packing and loading.
Section 6 Toxicological Information
Contact Limit:
China MAC: No standard currently
Russia MAC: 10-100mg/m3
USA MAC: No standard currently
Route of Entry Indicators: Inhalation, Ingestion, skin
Toxicological Health Hazard: Low
LD50:1.4g/kg (oral, rat)
LC50: ( diet, rat)
Acute toxicity: High vapor density causes mucous irritation to eye and upper respiratory tract; ophthalmalgia, tears, sneezing, angina, upset stomach, omitting, hypodynamia, etc. Or dizziness, staggers.
Chronic toxicity: symptoms of the flu-nausea, headache, and upset stomach, rough skin, etc.
Section 7 First Aid:
Skin: Take off contaminated clothing. Wash off with clean water or soap water
Eye: Irrigate with flowing water or normal saline for more than 15 minutes. Call a doctor ASAP
Inhalation of Decomposition Gas: Remove to fresh air. Give oxygen therapy if needed. Artificial Respiration if respiratory arrests. Call a doctor ASAP.
Ingestion: Drink large amounts of water. Induce vomiting. Call a physician ASAP.
Section 8 Exposure Controls & Personal Protection
Ventilation: NK
Respiratory Protection: Normally no special protection is needed. Wear protective mask with high vapor density. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus under emergency.
Eye Protection: Normally no special protection is needed. Safety goggles are preferable with high vapor density.
Skin protection: Wear protective gloves and protective clothing
Others: No smoking, eating and drinking (water, etc.) in workshop. Shower after work.
Work Hygenic Practices: NK
Section 9 Spillage measures:
Send personnel to safety area. No entry to polluted area. Keep away from fire sources. Wear protective masks and clothing to handle the emergency. Spraying water can help decrease evaporating, but can’t affect the flammability of the spilled material in the area. Absorb the spilled material with dry sand or similar material. Then bury them in the specified garbage. Or wash with emulsion made from non-flammable dispersing agent. Drain the used water to the waste water disposing system. With large release, prevent from out flowing. Then move, recycle, or dispose; and discard.
